Day 16: Okayama
Today was a rest day, I made my way from Kyoto to Okayama after a slow morning of work over breakfast of eggs and bacon and toast. I rode a train a few hours to Okayama and dropped my stuff at my hotel and started exploring.
I made my way to Okayama castle, and went up to the top. I think I’ve decided visiting castles isn’t my thing, it’s all military history, which is the least interesting history imo. I think in the future I will just go to the outsides to see them and then continue on my way.
Afterwards I went to Korakuen Garden. These gardens are really famous for their age and size it was built in the 1700s. It was really beautiful and I saw lots of koi swimming around which was a delight. I also got a super delicious peach ice cream while I was there. It was so flavorful and good. I could eat so much of it.
I slowly wandered back to my hotels, wandering through streets and malls and enjoying the scenery. Eventually, I found my way to a bakery and a grocery store and loaded up on all sorts of different snacks. Avocado and shrimp pasta salad, gyoza, marinated chicken, mochi filled with red beans, peach wine, seaweed chips, béchamel and cheese sandwich, and walnut bread. I brought them back to my room and went to the onsen on the top floor which was beautiful and decorated with trees. I soaked in the bath for a long time and pampered by skin with high end lotions and cleansers then sat in a massage chair for a while. After an evening of relaxing I returned to my room to chow down on all my snacks, work, and watch a movie. It was such a relaxing evening, and a good way to recoup from a busy trip
