Day 24-26: Townsville things

Okay, so I’ve been slacking on posting so I’ll just do a bulk couple of days here: the first few days of December were pretty slow, but nice.

Mostly, I was hanging around the house relaxing/working/bird watching. On Thursday, Dean and I went for a walk on the Jezzanine. It’s a look out that was used during the war of the coral sea. It’s a beautiful walking path landscaped with a bunch of native plants and has signs explaining their aboriginal uses. Which was really cool. It also has a really gorgeous view of the sea and we stood at the top of the cliff and looked down on little green sea turtles munching in the sea grasses below us. It was incredibly gorgeous and a really nice walk. I’ll definitely be returning there for some evening strolls.

Friday evening we went to the night markets at the strand. It was a bunch of little craft booths and food carts. Dean and Jenny said they had never been so I made them take be down. It was really busy, but we had some good food. Paella, Laotian pork, and Pizza. All delicious and we did some fun people watching. It was really crowded. They like to joke that there is so little culture here that people will come out in droves for the opening of an outhouse.

Saturday morning I booked tickets for my upcoming trip to Vietnam (I’ll be there end of Feb - March) with Jenna! 😊 Then I went out with Jenny to her friends house. We went to another art market wandering around a bit, and then made our way to lunch, followed by going to watch some of their friends bowl. Bowling here isn’t what I call bowling. It’s on a lawn, with these not perfectly round balls and you have teams… it’s kinda like boce ball maybe (I can’t remember the last time I played that) or like curling without the ice? Idk it’s weird, but it looks alright. It’s just not what I was expecting.
