Emma and Perth

Emma flew into Perth and I picked her up at the airport. I tried to keep her awake with coffee and snacks before we checked into our Airbnb. That evening we chatted and caught up over Thai food and relaxed in our Airbnb. Emma was a bit disappointed that the pool was closed for the winter, although I told her it’s only 70 degrees and nobody is swimming the winter lol

The next day we went for a wander around Freemantle. visiting the very hectic markets and some really cool coffee shops. One was inside an art gallery/plant nursery and was a really nice place to hang out. The markets were a bit crowded and overwhelming so we headed to the outskirts to go for a hike. Unfortunately the first place we went was absolutely chockers with people, it being Father’s Day weekend here and we drove for a while to find another hike. In the end we found a beautiful place to hike. We walked all around the property and up to a waterfall and it was stunning. We had a bit of a stressful evening trying to figure out the parking situation for our next couple days. The ferry service was unhelpfully vague about parking encouraging use of public transit without telling you where you could park to take public transit. A lot of google searching eventually found us a solution though, and it ended up being a lot less confusing once we were there

The next morning we checked out early and went to the ferry terminal. We found some parking (a long ways away) and walked the wrong direction for a while before making it to our terminal al just in time. It turns out there was parking there, although ours ended up being much cheaper so I suppose it worked out in the end. We loaded up for Rottnest, sweaty and excited!
