Flat Tire Day

The next day we headed back towards Perth with the intention of kayaking on the Murray River. This was the day where everything really went wrong. Firstly, I had looked up kayaking, but didn’t check the day of the week and we were told there wasn’t any kayaks for rent that day. Later we would find out there were and the person who told us that just didn’t know and told us the wrong info, but at the time I just thought I messed up. We parked trying to decide what to do next when suddenly I had a flat tire. Luckily, we were already parked and along the water in a pretty park so it wasn’t the end of the world. I called roadside assist to come change my tire for me. Yes, I can change a tire. I’ve done it many times, but its annoying and it sucks and that what I paid extra for roadside assist for anyway. So that I could not change the tire if I don’t have to. We sat in the car and read in the sun while we waited for roadside assist. He was… not my favorite. He was quite incredulous that we called roadside assist to change a tire if we had a tire and the tools. He kept insisting that he should teach me how to change a tire but repeated again that I knew how to do it I just didn’t want to do it. I asked him what he thought I paid for roadside assist for and he seemed to think it was a silly question. My tires had some really big wear on the inside of the tire, he insisted that I must drive with my parking brake on (I don’t obviously) and that I endangered us by driving my car. He was really a vibe killer. He finally left and I called a tire shop about getting some new tires and they were closing before I could get there so we stayed the night along the beach. It was a bit of a cranky day after that, but we tried to make the most of it sitting on the beach at sunset.

The next morning we packed up early and drove 45 minutes to the tire shop where I got new back tires. There I learned that the rear tires on my car were actually the wrong sized tires for the vehicle and whomever had put them on in the past had used too big of tires. The mechanic assured me that this was not my fault and that it was a very strange situation that he had never seen before. After that we went and got some really incredible sandwiches and coffee at a nearby bakery and the good vibes were back.
